Kirby franchise strategy guide/Enemies/Squeaks

The Squeaks (ドロッチェ団, Dorocche Dan (Dorocche Gang)) are fictional characters in the Kirby series of games created by Nintendo. They appear in the Nintendo DS game Kirby: Squeak Squad.

Kirby and the Squeaks

The Squeaks are a group of mice (or rats) who specialize in stealing things. They are after the treasure that is said to contain an ultimate power, which they steal from King Dedede's castle at the beginning of the game after Kirby defeats Dedede at the end of Level 1, Prism Plains. They are the main antagonists of the game, though they are not the true villains, for the true villain is Dark Nebula.

Daroach

Daroach

Daroach (Dorocche in the Japanese version) is the boss of the Squeaks. He is shown wearing a red hat and cape and often carries a magic wand in his hand. He is responsible for his gang's quest for the treasure that "grants you the ultimate power". He is the boss of Level 6, Ice Island, and attacks by throwing stars with colored spheres surrounding them from his wand as well as the Triple Star, which Kirby can inhale and fire back at him. He also has a habit of teleporting around and throwing bombs at him, which, in a few seconds explode into pillars of flames. Another attack he has is firing small white/blue laser beams from his wand which'll freeze Kirby if they hit him. After Kirby defeats him, Meta Knight steals the chest and escapes through a door sealed by five colored Star Seals that Kirby needs in order to chase him through it to the Secret Sea, the seventh level. After Kirby fights Meta Knight to reclaim the treasure, Daroach takes it again only to end up being possessed by Dark Nebula (in truth, the treasure he believed to contain an ultimate power really contained Dark Nebula inside it). He is then known as Dark Daroach. Defeating Dark Daroach frees Daroach from Dark Nebula's possession. Kirby also receives the Triple Star afterwards; when he does, 3 stars protect him and he can shoot one of those three stars from the Triple Star.

Spinni

Spinni

Spinni (Spin in the Japanese version) is a small, yellow mouse who wears red sunglasses, a red scarf, and orange shoes. She is noted for being the fastest member of the Squeaks on her feet. When Spinni appears, it's usually a race against her to see who can claim the treasure chest she's after first. Spinni attacks with a metal claw and shuriken while quickly running and jumping around. Once she grabs a chest, she runs quickly to home base, so Kirby will have to hit her quickly. When Kirby does hit her, it is wise to use ranged powers since she is fast. If you get the chance to suck up one of her shurikens you'll become Ninja Kirby. Likewise, inhaling her metal claw will give Kirby Animal powers.

Storo

Storo

Storo (Stron in the Japanese version) is a big, blue, bulky mouse wearing a red sleeveless shirt, a red pirate bandana, and a pirate patch.

Storo is one of the stronger, if not the strongest, member of the Squeaks. He walks rather slow and attacks his opponent by either trying to jump on him/her or whack it with his huge hammer, which makes stars for Kirby to inhale once he slams it into the ground. Since he's so big, it's a little hard to dodge him. When encountered it's usually a test to dodge the beast. To defeat Storo, use melee attacks since he is mainly slow.

Doc

Doc is a small white mouse with a green moustache wearing glasses with red swirls in them. He himself is very weak, so he mainly fights Kirby from inside a fast-moving UFO that he shoots lasers from a small satellite dish, blasts at Kirby with clouds of dust from a vaccumm cleaner-like machine, or drops bombs from a mechanical claw. When fighting Doc, use long-ranged powers that can aim up, or Fighter's uppercut moves. Doc also pilots two bigger machines, which are two of the bosses of the game. The first boss he pilots is the Mecha-Kracko, which looks strikingly like Kracko and is the boss of Level 3, Cushy Cloud. The second is a huge hermit crab-like mecha called Yadogaine, which is the boss of Level 4, Jam Jungle.

Squeakers

edit

Squeakers

Squeakers (Chulins in the Japanese version) are small mice that appear as backup for the Squeaks. They come in four colors; red, green, yellow, and blue. They appear to occupy the members of the Squeaks, but luckily for Kirby, they are the weakest members of the gang, which is why there are several of them. Kirby is able to easily defeat them by just hitting them with anything he's got, but they make up for their weaknesses by swiftly moving and jumping around while throwing bombs in various sizes at him. In the scene shown after Kirby beats Dedede at the end of the Prism Plains, a red Squeaker is shown which gives proof that there are red Squeakers, but surprisingly, only the yellow, green, and blue Squeakers fight Kirby but in a sub-game: Smash ride there are red squeakers on blue stars. Also each Squeaker can do something different, yellow squeakers can jump multiple times, green squeakers can throw bombs and blue squeakers throw big bombs.

Dark Daroach

edit

After Kirby defeats Meta Knight at the end of Secret Sea to reclaim the treasure that supposedly grants its opener an ultimate power, Daroach takes that chest again. However, in truth, that chest contains the evil entity Dark Nebula. As soon as Daroach opens the chest, he becomes possessed by him and is then known as Dark Daroach. He is shown with dark blue/purple fur instead of grey, and his hat and cape are purple instead of red. Dark Daroach is the boss of the Gamble Galaxy.

Dark Daroach moves and attacks the same way he did when he wasn't possessed, except he moves faster and is more powerful and harder to avoid than he was before, making it very annoying. The bombs he throws in this state are red instead of black (on top of that, they are a little larger than the black bombs and when they explode, they create a pillar of flames), and the freezing laser beams he fires are larger than before. Upon being defeated by Kirby, Dark Nebula leaves his body, reverting him back to normal Daroach and his colors back to normal.

In the end

edit

After Kirby defeats Dark Nebula, he goes back to Popstar without his strawberry shortcake (it was the very reason why he started this adventure). Later on though, a shortcake arrives for him from the Squeaks. It's hinted they give it to Kirby as an apology for all the trouble they caused. At the end of the story, they simply left for parts unknown to search for more treasure.
