Kirby franchise strategy guide/Enemies/Waddle Doo

Waddle Doo is a fictional enemy commonly seen in the Kirby series of video games. Waddle Doo is believed to have some relation to Waddle Dee, due to their name similarities.

Appearence

Waddle Doo's body is round; he has small arms, large feet, one eye, and two strands of hair coming from the top of his head. Although he has no mouth, he speaks with a low voice in the Kirby anime. Also in the anime he can be seen with a sheath, holding a small sword.

In Kirby games

Waddle Doo is a common enemy, seen frequently in Kirby games. WD's main form of attack is called the Beam, where he emits a beam of energy in a whip-like fashion. This attack can be copied by Kirby for him to obtain the Beam ability. In Kirby Super Star, Kirby can charge his Beam attack into a projectile, and a Waddle Doo can be created from the Beam ability, who will then follow Kirby around and attack enemies with him. Waddle Doo is also a playable character in Kirby: Canvas Curse. To unlock him, the main game must be cleared with all other characters (Kirby, Waddle Dee, Dedede, and Meta Knight), or a copy of Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land or Kirby and the Amazing Mirror must be inserted into the GBA slot of the Nintendo DS, and he will be unlocked automatically. In Canvas Curse Waddle Doo can use his Beam attack when executing a touch dash.

In the Anime

In the Kirby anime Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, Waddle Doo commands a legion of Waddle Dees, and also is a servant of King Dedede. Although this Waddle Doo deviates somewhat from the one seen in Kirby games: in the anime Waddle Doo has a sword, which he does not have in any games, and his body has an orange color, as opposed to the red he is in the video games.
