Irish Gambit / Chicago Gambit edit

3. Nxe5?? edit

The Irish Gambit is an unsound opening. It trades a knight for a pawn, since Black can just recapture with 3...Nxe5. While this move does let White have a stronger center, the cost of a knight is too much to pay. Like other dubious openings, it can be used to surprise or unsettle the opponent.
