Welcome to the Administrative Assistance reading room. You can request assistance from administrators for handling a variety of problems here and alert them about problems which may require special actions not normally used during regular content editing. Please be patient as administrators are often quite busy with either their own projects or trying to perform general maintenance and cleanup.

You can deal with most vandalism yourself: fix it, then warn the user. If there is repeated vandalism by one user, lots of vandalism on a single page, or vandalism from many users, tell an admin here, or in #wikibooks (say !admin to get attention).

For more general questions and assistance that doesn't require an administrator, please use the Assistance Reading Room.

These IPs are making non-English pages and repeating SD tag removals. Please take of their non-English creations. MathXplore (discusscontribs) 07:03, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please update MediaWiki:Gadget-markAdmins-data.js (removal of former steward)

User:BRPever has resigned from the steward team. Please update the MediaWiki page. Thank you for your attention. MathXplore (discusscontribs) 14:01, 1 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

I am guessing it needs an interface admin to edit. --SHB2000 (discusscontribs) 09:39, 2 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Minorax:, could you update the page by any chance? TIA, --SHB2000 (discusscontribs) 09:39, 2 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I've done this change. MarcGarver (discusscontribs) 11:14, 2 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
By the way, any admin can request via RFP to have interface admin rights added. They'll need to ask on Meta for a Steward to grant the permission as there are no local 'crats. MarcGarver (discusscontribs) 11:17, 2 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Alternatively, this can be changed to json so any admin can edit. Just like the one on meta. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 05:33, 3 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think converting into json sounds like a better solution to me. --SHB2000 (discusscontribs) 11:11, 3 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@MarcGarver: Does this need a nomination or would a simple request for limited IA suffice? SHB2000 (discusscontribs) 11:12, 3 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think a simple request is adequate. The page reads "Bureaucrats may grant or remove interface administrator access to any current administrator requesting access at the Wikibooks:Requests for permissions. Requests must remain open for a minimum of 24 hours for community review." The specification of just a 24 hour wait time indicates that this is at the discretion of the Bureaucrat / Steward and is made public for awareness rather than a vote or debate. Concerns of recent out-of-scope BLPs at English Wikibooks etc. (CU/steward needed?)

@MarcGarver, Xania: May I have your attention here? I have recently found several accounts (Special:Contributions/Wikillo1, Special:Contributions/Mujeeb_kayode, Special:Contributions/Kabiru_Oyebode) making similar out-of-scope BLPs with similar edit patterns (same region, similar occupations, use personal photos, etc.). Can this be a coincidence, or are these accounts related to each other? MathXplore (discusscontribs) 01:28, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

@MarcGarver: I have requested global lock for Special:CentralAuth/Mujeeb_kayode. Another account with similar actions can be seen at Special:CentralAuth/Adedeji_Damianooh. As steward, you may want to take a look. MathXplore (discusscontribs) 01:50, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, there are several other connected accounts which I have locked. MarcGarver (discusscontribs) 08:44, 9 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

User:‎64.114 etc

I don't understand what this user is doing and why he is creating so many templates. Currently blocked from creating new pages as a precaution. Xania     talk 05:09, 14 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

I deleted all their templates. Many of them are copied from some other wiki and are unattributed. Happy to undelete all of them if need be (though it would need to be done using attribution, ofc). --SHB2000 (discusscontribs) 08:43, 14 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
