RCA Open Source Application: ROSA Manual/Unit 5 - Populating Your Own RCA Database/Step 3/Importing of Resource Pool & Business Process Master Data from a source file
POPULATING YOUR OWN RCA DATABASE
editStep 3: Build an RCA Model - Importing of Resource Pool & Business Process Master Data from a source file
edit
First, import the provider and consumer Dimension Elements. Figure 34 is an example of an Excel source file for Provider and Consumer dimensions (Resource Pool and Business Process Master Data).
Construct a similar file for your master data and save it as a text file (tab delimited) without a header. The columns are the same as per the application screen for Importing Resource Pool Master Data.
Note that the file contains base and aggregated elements (or child and parent elements). The elements defined in your import sheet will hook up to the structure already defined so it is important to use the parent elements “Resource Pools”, “Business Processes” and “Primary Cost” as shown in Figure 34 above.
This hierarchy has four levels. The first two are standard and already modeled. For example the Maintenance Resource pool 6401 (in the 1st column), a base element, reports to the Support group 6000, an aggregated element. Nodes in the hierarchy are designated by CCG (for resource pools) and BPG (for business processes) in the ‘Type’ column. 6000 reports to the “Resource Pools” group. The Primary cost element for Salaries is 60001 with parent group “Primary Cost”.
The Description column shows the description of the object element in the first column and not of the parent element.
The 2nd to last column, Type, is used to distinguish between individual Resource pools and groups. CC stands for Cost Center and CCG stands for Cost Center Group. Recall that in this model Cost center is synonymous with Resource Pool.
The last column defines the Unit of Measure for the applicable resource. Although the Provider and Consumer dimensions are separate dimensions, we use the same source file for both.
Use the Palo Import wizard to import your data (under Palo menu and “Data Import”). While importing, you will see the rows of the source file appear on the applicable screen band (refer Figure 34), line-by-line until each line in the load sheet has been imported.
To see the result of the import open the Modeller under the Palo menu and look at the changes to the Provider and Consumer dimensions.
