Shopping is a common activity that everyone goes through in their daily lives. Sample these conversations in different situations.

At the Store

At the store you look for the articles on the racks, choose from them and buy some. Before you buy and pay for them you are likely to enquire about their quality, alternatives available or the prices they carry.

Samita, in this conversation is looking up the racks at the departmental store. She wants to buy Lux or Peers soap. She asks for Lux as the sales girl comes up to help her. She next asks for Peers soap as the sales girl points to the Lux. The sales girl points to the Peers soap too. After enquiring about the prices, she orders for Peers soap.

ਸਮਿਤਾ: ਕੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੱਕਸ ਸਾਬਣ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ?

Samita: Can I have Lux soap?

ਸੇਲਜ ਗਰਲ: ਜੀ ਹਾਂ, ਲੱਕਸ ਉੱਧਰ ਹੈ।

Sales girl: Yes, Lux is there.

ਸਮਿਤਾ: ਕੀ ਪੀਅਰਜ਼ ਸਾਬਣ ਵੀ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ?

Samita: Is Peers soap also available?

ਸੇਲਜ ਗਰਲ: ਹਾਂ ਜੀ, ਇਹ ਰਿਹਾ ਪੀਅਰਜ਼ ਸਾਬਣ।

Sales girl: Yes, here is Peers soap.

ਸਮਿਤਾ: ਲੱਕਸ ਦੀ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤ ਹੈ?

Samita: What is the price of Lux?

ਸੇਲਜ ਗਰਲ: ਇਹ ਤੀਹ ਰੁਪਏ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਪੀਅਰਜ਼ ਸਾਬਣ ਪੰਜਾਹ ਰੁਪਏ ਦਾ ਹੈ।

Sales girl: Its price is thirty rupees and that of Peers soap is fifty rupees.

ਸਮਿਤਾ: ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੀਅਰਜ਼ ਸਾਬਣ ਹੀ ਦਿਉ।

Samita: I shall have Peers soap.

At the Jewellery shop

Samita and Raj are shopping at the Jewellery shop. Samita asks for a nose stud. The Jeweller shows her diamond studded nose stud. Raj however asks for some designer nose studs. The jeweller shows them Nakshatra and Asmi nose studs. Samita opts for Nakshatra nose stud. Here goes the conversation.

ਸਮਿਤਾ: ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਕੋਕਾ ਦਿਖਾਉ ਜੀ।

Samita: Please show me a nose stud.

ਸੁਨਿਆਰਾ: ਇਸ ਕੋਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀਰਾ ਜੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

Jeweller: This nose stud has a diamond.

ਰਾਜ: ਕੋਈ ਡੀਜਾਈਨਰ ਕੋਕੇ ਵੀ ਹਨ?

Raj: Do you have designer nose studs?

ਸੁਨਿਆਰਾ: ਹਾਂ ਜੀ, ਇਹ ਕੋਕਾ ਨਕਸ਼ੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਅੱਸਮੀ ਦਾ ਹੈ।

Jeweller: This nose stud is by Nakshatra and this one by Asmi.

ਸਮਿਤਾ: ਮੈਂ ਨਕਸ਼ੱਤਰ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਕਾ ਲਵਾਂਗੀ।

Samita: I will have this one by Nakshatra.

At the Bank

You deposit money, encash cheques, buy drafts or remit money to others at the Bank. In this conversation Samita wants to deposit five thousand rupees as well as the cheque she is carrying into her account. She also wants to transfer ten thousand rupees to her mother's account. The manager guides her to fill up relevant forms to make deposits and transfer money to her mother's account.

ਸਮਿਤਾ: ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਖਾਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜ ਹਜਾਰ ਰੁਪਏ ਜਮਾਂ ਕਰਨੇ ਹਨ।

Samita: I want to deposit five thousand rupees in my account.

ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ: ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਹ ਫਾਰਮ ਭਰ ਕੇ ਜਮਾਂ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿਉ।

Manager: Please fill up this form and deposit the money.

ਸਮਿਤਾ: ਇਹ ਚੈੱਕ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਖਾਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਜਮਾਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ।

Samita: I want to deposit this cheque also into my account.

ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ: ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕੈਸ਼ ਵਾਙੂੰ ਹੀ ਜਮਾਂ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿਉ।

Manager: Please deposit this the same way as cash.

ਸਮਿਤਾ: ਮੈਂ ਦਸ ਹਜਾਰ ਰੁਪਏ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦੇ ਖਾਤੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਤਬਦੀਲ ਵੀ ਕਰਨੇ ਹਨ।

Samita: I will also transfer ten thousand rupees into my mother's account.

ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ: ਉਸਦੇ ਲਈ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਫਾਰਮ ਭਰਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

Manager: You may fill up this form for that.

ਸਮਿਤਾ: ਧੰਨਵਾਦ।

Samita: Thanks.

At the Restaurant

Samita and Raj decide to enjoy a meal together in the Friends restaurant. They order pasta, juices and coke. Sample these bits of conversation as the bearer approaches the duo.

ਸਮਿਤਾ: ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਦੋ ਪਾਸਤੇ ਲਿਆਉ ਜੀ।

Samita: Please bring us two pastas.

ਰਾਜ: ਤਾਜ਼ਾ ਰਸ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਕਨੱਸਤਰ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਾਉ ਜੀ।

Raj: Please bring two cans of fresh juice first.

ਸਮਿਤਾ: ਨਹੀਂ ਮੈਂ ਕੋਕ ਲਵਾਂਗੀ ਜੀ।

Samita: I shall rather have coke please.

ਬੇਅਰਰ: ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣੇ ਲੈ ਕਿ ਆਇਆ।

Bearer: I will presently serve the order.
