Lucid Dreaming/Reality Checks/Memory
Presentation
editWith the memory reality check, you try to remember what just happened in the past few minutes, and what happened a little bit ago.
In dreams, you'll often skip from one scene to the next with little or no transition, or you might remember something that never happened. If you try to remember what just happened as a reality check, then you might realize that you were just in a completely different place, or you might not be able to remember anything at all from more than a couple minutes ago.
Examples of this reality check working
edit- I was in a forest. Then I was in a kitchen. I didn't notice the change, and I started to get something to eat, but then I saw a dark green light flowing out of the microwave, reminiscent of a forest. I thought back to a few minutes ago and realized I was in that forest then, not this kitchen. I realized I must be dreaming.
- I heard someone in my dream say the phrase, "What language do you dream in?", and I thought, "Hey, I can't just have pulled that from my head, it must be something I've recently heard!" I started remembering my previous "Waking Day", and I remembered that a friend told me that same phrase in school last day! And so I realised I was dreaming.
Examples of this reality check failing
edit- I was in a parking lot near a big truck, and I thought it was mine. However, I remembered coming here on a bike, so I was beginning to think I was dreaming, but then I thought about it a bit more and I discovered a false memory of me coming here in the truck. Though I was still doubting it (I had the feeling it was a false memory, because I was quite sure I came on a bike), I lost the bit of lucidity I had.
