Thai chili paste (Thai: Nam Prik Pao) is a spicy condiment used in Thai cooking. It should not be confused with Thai red curry paste. At its simplest, Thai chili paste generally consists of chili peppers, garlic, oil, and onion or shallot. It may also sometimes contain fish sauce, tamarind, or other flavorings. Thai chili paste may be purchased commercially or made at home.
