Beef shawarma is a Lebanese dish that has been adopted as a daily meal in Nigeria.

  1. Blend the onion, garlic, and ginger into a paste.
  2. Combine the beef and onion paste in a pot. Season with the stock cubes, salt, curry powder, and thyme. Add some water, and cook for about 15 minutes. Once done, stir and fry them in a pan of vegetable oil for 3 minutes.
  3. Open up the pita bread to divide it in two. Place one on top of the other.
  4. Gently spread mayonnaise over the bread on top. Add the cabbage, carrot, green pepper, cucumber, and cooked beef. Sprinkle with chili powder, and drizzle with ketchup and mayonnaise.
  5. Fold to seal the contents. Place it on a heated pan greased with some vegetable oil. Let the shawarma heat up on the side with the open flap. Flip and do the same for the other side.
  6. Serve when hot.
