Voting Rules
editNomination
- Wikijunior projects will be at first proposed on New Title Suggestions to organize the proposal.
- Anyone can make a proposal and add a nomination.

- The winning project is the nomination with the most valid support votes and a minimum of 5 votes. Opposing votes are discarded. (see w:Approval voting).
- In case of a tie, the older projects will be selected (by project proposal history).
- Each project that receives any valid support votes will be automatically nominated for the following month.

- Although the idea seems to be very valid I worry whether such books should be considered in this voting system. Their simplicity would lead to few comprehensive books being tagged as official and therefore I would suggest if they could rather be created in another system, appropriate for quicker acceptance of such books. --82.10.198.113 19:01, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

- This would certainly provide a large scope for potential. SRXT 21:16, 7 August 2007 (UTC) Actually, I just read the bit about having 20+ edits. ^^;; Bye vote. SRXT 21:29, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- I am very interested in Europe and could provide physical and human geography information. This would be an interesting project. Laleena (talk) 14:02, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the comments. If you click on the 'Europe' link above you'll see that the project has already been started but a lot of input is needed. Xania talk 17:34, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

- Wikibooks is not US Books and books shouldn't focus solely on the United States. Xania talk 19:52, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- If we ever want to actually write a textbook that could be used in a classroom it is going to have to be geared to a specific country's curriculum standards. Since many of the people who have been suggesting writing these textbooks have mentioned the California standards, and those standards are available online, using that as a test case makes sense to me. While I agree that Wikijunior content should not be US centric as a whole, it is perfectly acceptable, and even necessary for individual books to be so. --xixtas talk 03:03, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- Why not make two, one for the US and one for another country/region. Like the UK. Although I doubt they differ that much. SRXT 21:18, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
- Rather than two why don't you just add some extra chapters that include content that might be covered in other countries. Teacher pick and choose the chapters that they're going to use from textbooks all the time.Rmawhorter (talk) 14:35, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

- Math is the content area in which the curriculum standards (from country to country and within the US, from state to state) vary the least, especially at the lower grade levels. Kfasimpaur 22:03, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

- I've been working on a basic math textbook over on Simple English Wikibooks. Although the scopes of these books differ, there could be some very useful crossover as far as creating images and activities to enhance the texts --Ezra Katz 05:46, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
- I would love to write a textbook coordinating with California standards! I can also coordinate with other standards. Laleena (talk) 14:03, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Just to let everyone know. There is a complete online k-12 math curriculum online for free already. It's not open source and it has a different sort of sequence so I'm still in for this project. Rmawhorter (talk) 14:35, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
