Parchment paper, also known as baking paper, is a type of paper that has been specially processed for use in cooking and baking. It is most often used as a non-stick surface in baking, and its use generally reduces or eliminates the need for greasing pans when baking. Parchment paper is oven safe up to a certain temperature. It should not be confused with wax paper, which will melt and smoke when heated in the oven.

Parchment paper may be bleached (white) or unbleached (brown). It is usually sold in rolls or pre-cut sheets.
