In order to manage distributed filesystems we have to handle accounting, authorization and authentication. As already mentioned in the introduction we will use Kerberos for most things.

AFS was designed for Cross-Subnetworking. Therefore you can not use broadcasting in order to discover other participants in your network. Hence AFS uses
