ABOUT ME

Hi! My name is Lucyna Russell, but everyone calls me Lucy. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and moved to Virginia Beach when I was nineteen. I won't tell you how old I am now! I am a single mom raising a three year old boy. He is my pride and joy and I enjoy every day with him. I was drawn to teaching by chance and am now pursuing my license to teach kindergarten through sixth grade. It is what I was meant to do.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

My teaching philosophy is simple. Every child is capable of learning and they should have every opportunity to do so. Each child has their own unique qualities and different styles of learning. It is our responsibility as teachers to aid children in the learning process and find what works best for them. We should not assume that one teaching style will work for every child. Instead we should be prepared to adjust our teaching style to the student and being flexible enough to modify whenever it is needed. It is a duty we owe not only to the child, but their parents, ourselves and society.

I also believe that our school systems are not funded equally. As they should be. Every child should be exposed to the same material, technology, and opportunity. Unfortunately, through my experience, I have not seen this to be true. I cannot comprehend why certain schools have brand new equipment while others are struggling for equipment. All children are the future of America and deserve to be treated so!!
