Well, i guess i should start at the beginning. I was born in jacksonville, florida, in 1981. Lived up and down both the east and west coast when i was younger but settled in virginia beach when i was about seven. After graduating highschool i was "in and out" of tidewater community college until i finally graduated in 2006 with an associates degree in science. Have worked for one of the areas bigger surf shops for the past seven years and just recently decided it was time for a change. I left full-time work to become a full-time student which i plan to continue doing until the need for change strikes me again. I was accepted into ODU's physics/teacher preperation program mid summer. I think teaching would be a very rewarding field but my true asperations lie in research in the areas of astrophysics and theoretical physics. I am also vey interested in studying abroad and hopefully will be able to do this by july of next year.

Man, where to start!? I have alot of mixed feelings about education/schooling. As a youth i hated school! I felt that my schooling, for the most part, was a waste of time. Most of the stuff we were "forced" to learn was uninteresting and not usable in the "real" world. I felt that education in our system was more a test of discipline than knowledge, some might even say a preperation for a "lemming society" of "recycled thought." On the other side of the coin, i now see that discipline is somthing to be valued. I am also one of those people who believes there is no such thing as truth, and would go as far as to say it is possible that life is simply a dream, within a dream, within a... But without making this too long, i do value the importance of acquiring information and knowledge. I guess my "philosophy of education" would be the attempt to look at things from as many different angles as possible while still realizing you are only truly able to look at them from your own perspective?!

I looked at your's and your educational philosopy caught my eye. I thought I was the only one that thought maybe our lives are just someone else's dreams. And that their dreams are someone else's. It's interesting to think about. Just thought I'd say hi and nice to meet you!
