I am an Australian born Anthropologist specialising in the anthropology of Aboriginal Australia, particularly for the noth-eastern parts of Australia.

Reason for Signing Up

edit

I started my explorarion of Wikibooks by looking up the Australian history text/book currently being edited/written, and, noting the conspicious absence of Aboriginal Australian pre-history, I took it upon myself to start making some contribution to this aspect of Australian history with which I have some familiarity.

Future 'Book' Ambitions

edit

I am also new to Wikipedia, and on my userpage for that project:

i. I announced a particular interest in the natural/cultural history of landscapes, including, particularly, north-east Australia's wet tropical forests (inscribed by the World Heritage Committee on the World Heritage list under the World Heritage Convention, back in 1988)

ii. I also announced a grand hope or intention to start making avaialble to readership .. a natural and cultural history of the World Heritage listed wet tropical forests - from Gondwana land through to the present and onwards into a predicted globally warm future 50 years hence.

It occurred to me, in contemplating the above hope/ambition that the intended/hoped for entry would, to be comprehensive and complete, grow too large for a standard 'encyclopedia' entry. Now that I have found/discovered Wikibooks, it is my hope that perhaps it might be possible to contemplate, start, and work on a possible 'Wikibook' on this World Heritage area's natural and cultural history?!!

Advice, Help, Support, and Assistance Greatly Welcomed

edit

Being so new, and definitely unfamiliar with Wikibook protocols, practices etc, any advice, assistance, support, feedback etc at all will be most welcome .. even as I start, first, on making some early/preliminary contribution to the Australian History wikibook/text!!
