Biography for Bronwyn Hegarty
Supporting academic staff with curriculum design and development for flexible learning is Bronwyn's main role in the Educational Development Centre at Otago Polytechnic, Dunedin, New Zealand. In 2010, she will be mainly involved in project managing a number of curriculum development projects. She also teach two open courses: the Flexible Learning course in the Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Learning and Teaching, and Evaluation of eLearning for Effective Practice in the Graduate Certificate in Applied eLearning. Staff development training and support in the use of a wide range of technologies is another role she undertakes, and involves FOSS (free online stuff), including Web 2.0, and also Elluminate, Mahara, Moodle etc. — for teaching and learning, and for online collaboration with colleagues. Bronwyn also mentors staff in educational development and research.
She is a Doctorate in Education candidate with the University of Wollongong. Her thesis is investigating the use of a Three-Step Reflective Framework and template to support the preparation of the evidence practitioners need to prepare for professional electronic portfolios.
