Structural Biochemistry/Pluripotency

Definition

edit

In cell biology, pluripotency is defined as "the potential of a cell to develop into more than one type of mature cell, depending on environment"[1]. So if a cell is pluripotent, it has the potential to transform itself into a lung cell, heart cell, etc. Pluripotency describes a cellular state of specific cells within the early embryo [2].
