Case study Information mapping

Group: Paul van Tuel, Steven Turnbull

The understanding of an extremely complex system was needed for this group to develop a system to support the post production pathway for a television company. As part of SDLC analysis the group developed many complex and detailed DFDs. In an interesting twist, these DFDs became the prototype for communication with the client, the basis of detailed functional requirements and eventually the operational deliverable.

Once the group established that the system was to be a hierarchical diagram system, they put together a program that generated dynamic diagrams from a database. This stable platform meant the group could concentrate on design and interactivity and develop separate prototypes in each stage as part of a testing regime.
