An enchanting table is a block that allows players to spend their experience point levels to enchant tools, weapons, books, armor, and certain other items. This makes them more powerful.

Obsidian Obsidian Obsidian

This makes an enchantment table.

To enchant your tool/weapon/armour, you will need some lapis (on the right slot of the enchanting UI), and an unenchanted item (on the left). You will see three options. The lower options are more powerful, but the higher ones are cheaper. The experience level cost is on the left of the slot. The number on the right is the minimum level you must be to use it.

To make the options more powerful, place bookshelves around it, with one block in between. It can be one block higher. You only need 15, so a square around it will do (as the diagonals count).

While each option only shows one enchantment, you may get more. The chance of this increases on the higher level options.

If you don't like the options shown, enchant a scrap tool on the cheap (or try a different tool you want to enchant with). You can always run an item through a grindstone to remove enchantments.
