The words ben years ago, wen months ago, and Hu’ days ago can be immediately preceded by any number to form a time expression, while ret time period ago must be preceded by a number and the name of a time period. Here are some examples:

  • wejvatlh ben - three hundred years ago, three centuries ago
  • wa’maH wen - ten months ago
  • wa’­Hu’ - yesterday, one day ago
  • vagh tup ret - five minutes ago
