Host Of The Hexagrams

Each of the 64 Hexagrams (Gua) has one or more Hosts. A Host represents the main characteristics of a Gua. A Host is a line in a Gua, and the line number, as shown below, is counted from bottom to top, where the bottom line is counted as 1, the second line from the bottom as 2, and the top line is counted as 6. For example, in Hexagram 07, the Host is 2, the only Yang line in the Gua. The lines 2 and 5 are frequently the hosts of the Gua, as they occupy the central position of the lower/inner and upper/outer trigrams respectively.
