History

edit

Launch

edit

Sharp launched the X1 in 1982.[1] The system was advertised with some colorful imagery.[2]

Legacy

edit

Sharp would later release an Android phone in 2017 bearing the same name.[3] Press did not mention if this name was inspired by the original X1, meaning this choice of name may or may not have been a coincidence.

Technology

edit

The system was powered by a Sharp Z80 A clocked at 4 Megahertz.[1]
