History edit

Steamboy edit

The original Steamboy, later renamed the Smatch Zero, was pitched in 2015 as a portable Steam Machine with a predicted release date in 2016.[1][2][3]

SMATCH Z edit

In 2019 the console design was revised to incorporate a superior AMD Ryzen CPU, with plans to ship later in the year.[4][5] This revision of console hardware was playable at E3 2019.[6] Later that year another CPU upgrade was announced.[7]

Production issues lead to the console being delayed to 2020.[8] The Smatch Z was then intended to release in 2020.[9]

By 2021 the manufacturer of the still unreleased console faced bankruptcy.[10]
