The first PC-50X console was released in 1975.[1][2] The system was designed to be low cost,[3] and over two hundred variants of based on the PC-50X design were made.[1]

The PC-50x Family petered out over the course of the 1980's.[1][2]

Technology

PC-50X consoles made use of various General Instrument chips housed in cartridges[1], essentially making these pong consoles in cartridges, with the console simply being a power supply and interface for controllers and the television.[4] Cartridges held as many as 10 variations of a game.[5]
