J.R.R Tolkien (full name) Ronald Reuel Tolkien (January 3, 1892 – September 2, 1973) is best known as the author of The Hobbit and its sequel The Lord of the Rings.
He wrote the books while he was a professor at the University of Oxford.

Most of Tolkien's paternal ancestors were craftsmen and are originally from Saxony in Germany, but had been living in England. The surname Tolkien is anglicized from Tollkiehn (i.e. German tollkühn, "foolhardy", literally "insane(ly)-brave", the etymological English translation would be dull-keen, a literal translation of oxymoron)
Early Life edit
He was born in South Africa. In 1914, he joined the military to fight in World War I.
Work place edit
Jrr Tolkien worked at the University of Oxford. He worked various places in academia before arriving in 1925 at Pembroke College, Oxford University.
