Introduction

Tonic prescriptions act to invigorate qi, blood, yin and yang of the body, to address the respective deficiencies. There are five types of tonic prescriptions, namely prescriptions for invigorating qi, nourishing blood, invigorating both qi and blood, invigorating yin and invigorating yang.
