Annotations to James Joyce's Ulysses/Aeolus/125
Annotations
editmazurka A mazurka is a lively Polish country dance in triple time; the dancers mark the heavy accent on the third (or sometimes the second) beat of each bar by tapping their heels or stamping their feet. Joyce's use of the noun as a verb is analogous to the similar treatment of the names of other dances, e.g. waltz, tango.
