World of Warcraft/Hunter
Hunters are a popular class, mainly on PvE servers. This might be because at level 10 a hunter gets the skill to tame beasts and can keep them as pets. Also keeping your pet's skills up to date is almost like another set of quests. Or it could be because once you have your pet you are never alone. Some like the challenge of finding that special pet. In player versus environment questing, the hunter is very versatile. Being able to handle two or more monsters at a time increases the speed of questing and leveling greatly. Due to the hunter's pets, and need for ammunition, the class lacks great inventory space and must use most gold obtained by leveling for food and ammo.
A hunter's main attributes are: For PvE: Agility, Intellect, and Critical chances. For PvP: Stamina, Intellect, and Critical/Parry chances.
Class Pros
editOne of only two classes that gets a pet. Fast travel using Aspect of Cheetah. Some players think that Hunters are one of the fastest classes to get to level 60. This class has mail armor, high ranged DPS, and traps. Hunters have the ability to feign death, erasing all aggression and removing the hunter from Combat. In large instances such as Molten Core and Blackwing Lair, hunters are required for pulling monsters to the main tanks. Without the large range and survivability of a hunter, many groups would fail. On one fight in Molten Core, and two fights in Blackwing Lair, the ability Tranquilizing Shot is required to remove an enrage buff from a boss. Only hunters are able to do this, and the tome is bind on pickup (acquired from Lucifron, a boss in Molten Core). In PvP, hunters are effective against most class, moreso for some depending on the hunter's talent spec.
Class Cons
editMany think that hunters are better replaced by other classes in five-man instances. Hunters must feed and maintain their pet. Hunters have a deadzone on their ranged attacks. Ammunition requires a lot of gold. To keep up with DPS in any high-level raid hunters must use the best possible items they can obtain. Potions and ammunition better then vendor ammunition adds up, making the player lack gold to purchase other items. In PvP combat, the hunter talent tree is spread and makes it near impossible to create one good spec for defending against all classes. One huge Con is the lack of true "hunter weapons." Many weapons in the game are already specified by players as for either rogues or warriors. Hunters lack many options for melee weapons, due to the mindset of the hunter epic staff being the best weapon for hunters. This is also a problem, as the hunter epic staff is not the best DPS melee weapon for hunters.
FAQ
editHow do I use the stables?
editDrag the pets from the active slot to a stable slot to stable a pet. Drag a pet onto the active slot to use that as your current pet. It does not matter whether the pet has been dismissed or not.
