Description:
Hop clover is a low plant with a yellow flower head. The flower itself looks much like any other clover flower, only it is yellow. The leaves are sessile (sess-ile) meaning they are attached directly to the plant's main stem without a stalk. It does not grow much taller than about a foot high. When the flower gets old, it turns brown and paper-like.

Quick Facts:
Hop Clover was brought to North America in 1800 to be used as a pasture crop. It grows on both the east and west coasts of the United States, but is absent from the middle part of the country.
