Chad (officially known as Republic of Chad) is a landlocked country in north-central Africa. Its capital is called N'Djamena. Its currency is known as Central African CFA franc.

Geography

At 1,284,000 square kilometres (496,000 sq mi),Chad is the world's 20th-largest country.

Economy

The United Nations' Human Development Index ranks Chad as the seventh poorest country in the world, with 80% of the population living below the poverty line.
