Wikibooks:Don't throw stones from a glass house
|This page is a Wikibooks essay, not an official policy or guideline. Essays in the project namespace represent significant viewpoints, and anyone can participate in improving them. An essay in userspace need only represent that user's stance on the topic.|
Step back and think before responding to behavior you find inappropriate. Keep a sense of proportion. Problems often escalate when one contributor feels that another is throwing stones from a glass house. Sometimes, two or more contributors will be in conflict, and one will warn or even report another, not realizing that conflict involves more than one party.
Before applying a rule to someone else consider whether you have been following that rule yourself. If you feel a rule is being cited unfairly, try to stay cool. When there is a dispute, everyone would do well to remember what the dispute is actually about and to focus on what is not disputed, rather than on the dispute itself.
