Review

edit
  • Nouns are either feminine or masculine in Welsh.
  • Dau (2), Tri (3), and Pedwar (4) have feminine forms. You must use the correct feminine number with feminine nouns.
  • While you use the singular version of a noun with numbers (dau blentyn), it is more common to use the plural noun with numbers over 10 (deg o blant).
  • On the grammatical rules of numbers:
    • [1] Un causes a soft mutation to feminine numbers.
    • [2] Both dau and dwy cause a soft mutation.
    • [3] Use tri for masculine nouns. Use tair for feminine. Tri causes an aspirate mutation.
    • [4] Use pedwar for masculine nouns. Use pedair for feminine nouns.
    • [5] After pump, if the noun begins with a consonant - drop the ending p off pump.
    • [6] After chwech, if the noun begins with a consonant - drop the ending ch off chwech.
