The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild/Weapons

Standard weapons edit

Swords edit

Master Sword edit

The Master Sword is a special weapon, which operates on a different durability mechanic then other equipment. When the durability of the Master Sword is depleted, instead of breaking, it becomes unusable for a time period of 10 minutes.

Acquiring the Master Sword is also different from most other weapons. To claim the Master Sword, the player must navigate to the Great Deku Tree, and pull the sword, requiring 13 hearts to successfully pull from its resting place.

Because the Master Sword is of importance to the story, many characters will comment on the possession of the sword by the player, or the lack thereof.

Arrow types edit

Standard edit

Standard arrows are the most common kind found by the player.

Fire edit

These arrows will burn enemies on a direct hit. They can also be used to melt ice formations. They deal an extra 10 damage on top of the base damage already dealt by the bow.

Ice edit

These arrows will freeze enemies on a direct hit. They deal an extra 10 damage on top of the base damage already dealt by the bow.

Electric edit

These arrows will shock enemies on a direct hit, and may shock an area if used in wet conditions. They deal an extra 20 damage on top of the base damage already dealt by the bow.

Bomb Arrows edit

Bomb Arrows create an explosion at the site of impact, increasing damage, or aiding in demolition of remote rock formations hard to reach with standard remote bombs.

Bomb arrows are comparatively very expensive.

Ancient Arrows

Ancient Arrows instantly disintegrate standard enemies, causing them to drop nothing. If shot into the weak spot or eye of a Guardian, the Guardian will instantly die. They can also detonate Remote Bombs upon impact and break blocks of ice created by the Cryonis rune.

Shields edit

Unconventional edit

With a little bit of creativity, it is possible to use other game mechanics as a weapon. For example, large boulders can be pushed from cliffs onto enemies camping in a valley. Mundane objects moving with sufficient force can knock some monsters into water or lava, leading to their demise. Of course, the same can happen to the player should they fail to observe and react to their surroundings.
