The kanji variable will try to use the order, red or bw image types (in that order) for the character from the Commons:Stroke Order Project. If none of these exists, it falls back on a large font. The image can also be explicitly declared with the image variable.

The width determines the width of both the character image and of the table element in which it sits. The meaning is passed to meaning.

The onyomi and kunyomi are the readings, onrei and kunrei are the examples for these readings (as in: 音例 and 訓例). The nanori (名乗り) are irregular readings used almost exclusively in Japanese names. The special are special readings that are not considered onyomi, kunyomi or nanori. Examples of these readings are given with specialre.

Note: The reading examples should be in bulleted form. The bullets must be put at the start of a line for them to be formatted properly.
