Usage

This template should be placed on each department category page; it categorizes the department category and displays an appropriate category header, using information provided by the corresponding department page.

A department page Department:name has corresponding category Category:Department:name. If this template is used on a page whose name is not of the correct form, or if the corresponding department page does not exist or isn't correctly formatted, this template generates an error message. If the first unnamed parameter is ping, this template returns Department:Category.

Internals

Template {{Department:Category}} itself only checks for ping, verifies the transcluding page name is of the correct form and deduces the name of the department, and passes the department name for further processing to template {{Template:Department:Category/display}}.
