Usage

This template indicates that an article incorporates text from the Eleventh Edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica, which is now in the public domain. The template should be placed at the bottom of a book's page, just above the categories.

The template takes the following optional parameters, which enable more robust citation:

Parameter Description
article The name of the article as it appears in the 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica.
url A Uniform Resource Locator (URL) (web address) for the article online. This parameter can only be used if the name of the article is provided. Articles from the 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica can be found at http://www.1911encyclopedia.org.
author The name of the author of the Encyclopædia Britannica article. This parameter can only be used if the name of the article is provided. If there is a Wikipedia article about the author, this should be linked to using square brackets ("[[ ]]").
