Cultural Imperialism can be tentatively defined as a form of unequal, but not unilateral, cultural diffusion, across cultures or cultural traits, that results in the suppression of the distinctive characteristics of the less dominant in relation to the dominant one.

The relation is said to be unequal because it is often imposed, by economic, social or political decisions or processes, that has even involve armed conflict to establish said superiority and control.
