Dialogue 6 Do you like your job? edit
| 1 | MAX | Good morning, Anna! |
| 2 | ANNA | Good morning, Max. How are you? |
| 3 | MAX | Well, a bit tired. Yesterday I was busy all day. I left the bank at 6 in the evening and went out for dinner. I met some friends and... So...today I’ve got a headache. |
| 4 | ANNA | I see! Did you drink too much? |
| 5 | MAX | Yes, I really did. We drank too much. |
| 6 | ANNA | Oh. It’s really cold today, isn’t it? However, it seems it will be a nice day. They sky is clear. The Sun will soon appear. Look! There, we can still see the Moon and that bright light is planet Venus. And that thing over there is Mars, the red planet. Mars and Venus seem to be near, but in fact, they are very far away from each other. |
| 7 | MAX | I see you know a lot about astronomy! |
| 8 | ANNA | I studied it in my country. I love it. When I’m sad, I close my eyes and I imagine myself somewhere in the universe, travelling on a spaceship and visiting the planets. |
| 9 | ANNA | Astronomy is very interesting and although you may not notice it, it’s everywhere. For example: Today is March the 6th. Do you know where the name March comes from? From Planet Mars! For the Romans, Mars was the god of war! |
| 10 | MAX | That’s really interesting. You are lucky to know all that! I studied economics at City University London. No wonder, economics is a lot more boring. |
| 11 | MAX | By the way, if you studied astronomy, what do you do in a bank? |
| 12 | ANNA | I clean. Unfortunately, I couldn’t finish my studies. I found this job by chance. I don’t like it, but it allows me to make a living. |
| 13 | MAX | And why don’t you switch jobs? Or study again? |
| 14 | ANNA | I have no time. I have a son and I’m very busy. |
| 15 | MAX | Then, I’ ll hire you! |
| 16 | ANNA | Excuse me? |
| 17 | MAX | I mean If you want a new job, I can offer you one. I need a new secretary at the office. |
| 18 | ANNA | You’re joking. |
| 19 | MAX | Not at all. You are hired. Tonight we’ll go out for dinner. I’ll tell you about the job and we’ll sign the contract.] |
| 20 | ANNA | I am sorry Max, but I’m fine where I am. I don’t need to change my job right now. |
| 21 | MAX | It’s a good opportunity. You can’t miss it. Are you sure? |
| 22 | ANNA | Thanks, a lot, really, Max, but I’m not sure, I don’t think it’s a good idea. |
| 23 | MAX | Well, You’ll see. I think you’re wrong. You should let people help you, if you don't, you will remain in the same situation, cleaning toilets. Think about it. I must go. Taxi! |

| Max thinks Anna is a very interesting woman. She knows a lot of things, she is very beautiful and has a very sweet voice. Max is in love with Anna, that’s why he offers her a job. Max thinks he can buy everything with money, but he is wrong. Money can’t buy everything. Now, he is angry. |
| Anna thinks Max is a nice and gentle workmate, but she isn’t interested in him. Anna doesn’t like her work at the bank, but she is not sure about Max’s proposal. She’s scared. What does Max want?. Why has he offered her this job? Max hardly knows her, he doesn’t even know how she works. |
