Soil Erosion by Water/Sediment Continuity
Overall net erosion along a hillslope as function of downslope distance may be calculated by solving a
steady state sediment continuity equation (Nearing et al., 1989):
whereby interrill erosion is considered to be independent of . Rill erosion is positive for detachment (eqn 1.26, cf. section → Rill Erosion) and negative for deposition (eqn 1.28).
