Robotics/Environment Sensors

Environment sensors are sensors that detect and interpret things in the outside world (such as obstacles, sounds, and signs) or about the outside world (such as temperature, pressure, and viscosity).

Object Sensors

There are several sensors that are designed to determine the location and size of various objects in the world.

  • Digital cameras can, with enough processing power, locate specific objects in their field of view.
  • Tactile sensors can detect how much force is being applied to a specific point.
  • Distance sensors use various methods to determine the distance to the nearest object in a given direction.
