Abdominal Reirradiation

  • MDACC; 2009 (2002-2008) PMID 19922641 -- "Reirradiation to the abdomen for gastrointestinal malignancies." (Haque W, Radiat Oncol. 2009 Nov 18;4:55.)
    • 13 pts reirradiated for recurrent or metastatic disease. Prior RT median 45 Gy, interval of 26 months. Treated with 1.5 Gy BID to median 30 Gy (range 24-48 Gy). Concurrent chemo in 8 pts (62%).
    • 1-yr freedom from local progression 50%, median duration of freedom of local progression 14 months. 1-yr OS 62%, Median OS 14 months. 1 pt with grade 3-4 toxicity.
    • Conclusion: Hyperfractionated accelerated reirradiation to the abdomen was well-tolerated with low rates of acute and late toxicity.
