While Ember tends to be useful during the first stages of the game (especially for rookie trainers), later it becomes weak in comparison to stronger attacks such as Fire Spin or Flamethrower.
It was one of the attacks which already appeared in the first versions of the game, Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Red.
