OERlabs Openbook/Field Notes (Podcast)

Podcast conception edit

The first steps of development of the educational shaker podcast took place within the framework of internal project discussions on project documentation. The whole project team was familiar with the usual formats of project documentation, e.g. reports, blog, etc. The project team also had broad experience in media production, including podcasting.[1] The decision to document and reflect on the project with the help of a podcast was ultimately based on two factors: First, the flexibility provided by audio recordings was an important driver, because with the help of portable recording devices, such as a smartphone, episodes can be easily organized and performed with a wide variety of guests. On the other hand, a linguistic reflection of project steps offers a more open or personal outward effect, which can be advantageous for a project that is characterized by openness. These preliminary considerations initially led to an overview of the concept:

After agreeing on the now official name "Bildungsshaker" (engl. education shaker), inspired by the remix idea, which as a visual brand is also behind the shaker logo of the project, a remix of the first concept version also took place during the production process. Guided by the course of the project, the planning, documentation and reflections of the important project steps were brought to the forefront of production. For this reason, the project-related episodes in particular form the basic framework of the podcast. Other theme-based recordings were pushed somewhat into the background (e.g. episodes 5, 7 and 8), whereby the concept was adapted and finalized accordingly:
