Cyclone formation is also known as cyclogenesis. There are several kinds of cyclogenesis. Usually cyclogenesis is used with reference to most cyclone patterns; however, if reference to tropical cyclones is intended, it is called tropical cyclogenesis. In the case of tornadoes, it is instead called tornadogenesis.
