The first meter was used in 1926. All stamps contain “SUOMI FINLAND” with or without a dash between. The stamps are grouped according to appearance and function:
A – Rectangle with simulated perforation outer border
B – Rectangle with single straight-line outer border, three post horns at top
C – With simplified single post horn at top
D – With "●/ p●sti" logo
PO – Special stamps generated only by post office machines

GROUP A: Frank with simulated perforation outer border and straight line inner borderEdit


A1. Hasler “D106” (FV-8), 1926.  [$5]

Horizontal rectangle with value in double oval in center.
M# breaks bottom frame lines.
M# 102–143 known.

NOTES:

  • Some of the denominations no doubt are rarer than others and worth more than the stated catalog value. Values above 5M appear to be scarce with those at the high end being quite rare, especially the 500M which approximates $250 of postage (in 2015 U.S. dollars). The most common values found are the 50P, 2M, and 5M.
  • The 5P value exists but is known only as a proof, not postally used.



A2. Neopost (FV-6), 1927.  [$10]

Nearly identical to Type 1 except for M# series: 201, 202, 207 and 208 seen.
Without TM
Values denominated in “P”:  20, 40, 50
Values denominated in “M”:  1, 1¼, 1½, 2, 2½, 3




A3. Universal “Midget” (FV-3), 1929.  [$20]

Vertical rectangle with denomination symbols above and below value.
M#s 301-305 known.

Values denominated in “P”:  20, 25, 40, 50
Values denominated in “M”:  1, 1¼, 1½, 2, 2½, 3




A3.1. Francotyp “C” (MV), 1929.

Large horizontal rectangle with 9, 10 or 11 “perforation holes” at each side.
M# breaks bottom outer frame line but not inner frame line.
Wide spacing between TM and frank.
Normally without transaction counter number but known with 4-digit number high between TM and frank.
Date without stops.
M# 401 up.

A4. Francotyp “Cc” (MV).

As Type A3.1 but date figures always have stops.
