Cultural Controls are methods for garden pests, diseases, and weeds by altering the environment in a way that makes it an unsuitable habitat for the target organisms.

Controls include mulching or removing mulch, pruning to provide better air circulation, and companion planting.

Controls alter any one of the following:

• Air circulation
• Sunlight exposure
• Soil chemistry, content, texture, and structure
• Atmospheric and soil moisture
