Mitosis,a process whereby one cell(mother cell)gives rise to two cells(daughter cell's)with the identical genetic make-up as the original(mother cell).This is possible due to a process called DNA replication,where an identical copy of the DNA material is made just before the cell starts to divide.Once DNA replication has occurred,each chromosome appears as two chromotids,which are held together at the centromere.Mitosis takes place in the body cell's (somatic cell's)of both plants and animals.The process of mitosis can be divided into 4phases which are continues.The cell cycle refers to a series of phases through which a cell progresses when it is actively dividing. Phase 0 is the Interphase,it is the longest phase during which growth occurrs
