What philosophical theories have in common is "the intention of thinking being or the unity of the world by way of explicating reason's experience of itself."

The premise that reason can have experiences is not intuitively obvious. Nor is the premise that reason would be able to directly experience itself -- as distinct from, say, its interpretation of itself.
