Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe/Chapter 4
Chapter 4
This chapter takes the reader back to the Rose Terrace Nursing Home. Mrs. Threadgoode is still talking. Evelyn is still eating candy and wondering when Mrs. Threadgoode will shut up. She is talking about the Threadgoode home in Whistle Stop and recalling the fond memories of new babies over the years. She describes the two-story house with the railroad tracks running through the front yard. She tells Evelyn that her first name is Virginia, but everyone calls her Ninny. She had liked all the Threadgoode boys, but had married Cleo. She tells Evelyn this worked out well because he was a chiropractor and she had a bad back.
Ninny spent so much time at the cafe that Cleo once asked her if she didn't have anything better to do.
