English: Lyman, Wash. (Sept. 23, 2003) -- Lt. Nick Vande Griend, assigned to Electronic Attack Squadron One Three Nine (VAQ-139), simulates a survivor of an ejection scenario. Lt. Vande Griend "pops a smoke" and uses his radio to communicate with a Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopter. SAR is conducting its annual week long SAR Exercise designed to enhance the rescue and survival skills of pilots and aircrew. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate 2nd Class Michael B.W. Watkins.
